What is the Jurniz Ultralight Cot?

This ultralight camping cot is one that is great for car camping, sleepovers, or even shorter hikes to overnight camping sites.

Unlike a regular cot, which is heavy and takes up a lot of space, this cot weighs less than 5 pounds and can fit easily in our hiking packs.

While I don’t know if I’d want to take this along if I were doing something like the Appalachian Trail or other long distance hike, it is perfect for tent camping with kids.

The Jurniz cot holds up to 330 pounds once assembled, so it’s great for adults and kids alike.

My husband, at 5’10”, can stretch out on the cot with room left over, and, unless you’re very, very tall, you’ll be able to use this for a more comfortable sleeping experience.

“But what do I need a camping cot?” you might ask.

It’s simple: comfort and convenience.

I’m not as young as I used to be, but even as a kid, I wasn’t a huge fan of sleeping on the floor. (I’ve been 85 since I was born!)

And, even when we’re tent camping, I want to feel rested and refreshed each morning so I can make the most of our hikes and adventures.

That means I either need a cot or an air mattress, and the cot is SO much more convenient and comfortable.

Unlike an air mattress, this cot takes about 5 minutes to assemble and won’t leave you on the floor by 3 AM. You also don’t need any special tools to set it up, making it a great option for camping areas where you don’t have power or can’t have a generator.

The Jurniz ultralight camping cot has quickly become a favorite in my family, and the kids have even used it to have sleepovers in one another’s rooms, even though they’ve got perfectly good beds.

At the affordable price point, you can get one or more to have around for overnight visits or to make those camping trips even more comfortable.

How to Set Up and Use the Jurniz Cot

The Jurniz ultralight cot comes in a sturdy carrying bag with a zipper close and a helpful woven handle.

Other cots that we’ve seen and used don’t have these features on their carrying bag, and those little details do make a difference when we’re organizing and setting up our campsite.

Take all of the pieces from the carrying bag, and lay them out on the floor.

NOTE: The cot also comes with a free inflatable pillow, which arrives in its own little drawstring bag.

This pocket is where you’ll insert the

The pillow doesn’t deflate in the middle of the night, and it is easy to create a firmer or softer fill to your own preferences.

The first thing you’ll want to look for is the folded piece of heavy canvas, which will form the sleeping part of the cot. Unfold this and place to the side.

Then, find the 2 wider metal tubes and assemble each to make the rails of the bed. These tubes come folded in 4 pieces, but there is a stretchy string inside to keep each tube’s components together. You’re just laying the pieces out, and they should come together easily.

(Another observation: we’ve had other camping cots that weren’t this good of quality, and that shows in the side bars.

The Jurniz side bars are easily twice as wide as the same pieces in our other, cheaper camping cot without adding extra weight.)

Do the same for the cot’s bottom supports, each of which has rubber feet attached. These snap out from their folded positions easily.

Next, grab the heavy canvas again, and look at the two sides. One will have the Jurniz logo towards the top and will be smooth all of the way to the edges. This side also has a small pocket.

The other side will have long, skinny pockets running along the edges. Place the wider tubes in these pockets, one in each side.

From here, you’ll need to attach the bottom supports. I’ve found that doing so is easiest if I place the cot bed with rails in it in front of me, so that the bed has one rail resting on the ground.

Then, lock the bottom foot of the support rail into the area on the bed rail—start in the middle of the bed rail for the easiest assembly.

Pop the top support rail into the top of the bed rail. If this is your first time assembling the bed, this will be the hardest part of the entire process, but it does get easier on subsequent assemblies.

Go down the bed rail, adding each support rail in the blank spaces in the cot canvas. Again, I like to work my way out from the middle, ending with the support rails closest to my head and my feet.

When all 5 support bars are in place, turn the cot right side up and you’re ready to camp!

There is very little learning curve required here, as the entire process feels really intuitive. I can put the cot up within just a couple of minutes now, and could probably get even faster with more practice.

You can use the cot as is with just a blanket over you if you’d like to go minimalistic.

Or, you can add a sleeping bag on top of the canvas if you like that traditional camping feel but want to get yourself off of the hard ground.

When we know we’re having company, we go for a luxe experience, putting a mattress topper, a cot sized sheet set, and quilt on the cot. This is also what my kids opt for when they’re feeling sick and want to hang out near us at night.

All of that isn’t feasible for a hike-in camping situation, but it would raise your tent camping to a new level if you’re in a site where your vehicle is nearby!

We’re planning a big camping trip in Florida soon, and you’d better believe that I will be bringing this cot to use!

Final Thoughts on the Jurniz Cot

Overall, we love how flexible this cot is, how easy it is to put together, and just how much better we feel after sleeping on it over a sleeping bag on the ground!

I enjoy the experience of tent camping and being out in nature, but have gravitated towards RV camping just because of how comfortable the beds are.

I’m one of those people who is super grumpy without a good night’s rest, so traditional tent camping is essentially guaranteed to make me miserable.

But, this camping cot is a game changer for me, and I anticipate a lot more tent camping trips in our future thanks to this piece of equipment.

The 75” x 25.5” sleeping surface means that most adults can easily fit onto the cot, and the sub-5 pound weight makes it easy to toss in the car when it’s time to head to the campground.

For the money, you won’t fit a sturdier cot, so get one for everyone on your next camping trip.
